It was founded as ''Sakaguchi Kikai Seisakusho Ltd.'', and renamed to ''Kanematsu Kiko'' in 1944 then ''Daifuku Machinery Works Co., Ltd.'' in 1947. Its modern name ''Daifuku Co., Ltd.'' has been used since 1984.
