On August 26, 2023, during the fourth quarter of the Week 3 preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, Davis suffered an injury after sustaining a hit from Jaguars linebacker Dequan Jackson while the wideout was attempting to catch a pass from teammate James Blackman. Jackson appeared to make helmet-to-helmet contact with Davis, drawing an unnecessary roughness flag after the play and leaving Davis immobilized and later carted off the field.
