The species was later described from these specimens as belonging to a new genus and species, ''Cryptosylvicola randrianasoloi''. The generic name ''Cryptosylvicola'' was formed from Greek ''Kryptos'', meaning hidden, Latin ''silva'', meaning forest and Latin ''cola'', meaning inhabitant.
