He had a second goal in the same match wrongfully ruled out for offside. In just his second league appearance for the club he scored his first league goal against local rivals Hibernian in a 2–0 win. This goal made it 2 goals in 3 games for Beattie. On 15 April 2012, he set up the first goal and scored the winning penalty in a 2–1 win over Celtic in the Scottish Cup Semi Final. After the goal Beattie got booked for taking his shirt off and his impromptu lap of honour. He went on to appear as a substitute as Hearts beat Hibernian 5–1 in the
