This is a list of municipalities (urban or rural communes), and arrondissements of Morocco, based on the 2004 census. In 2009 a new administrative division of Morocco was adopted, creating 13 new provinces:

, there are three types of administrative divisions within the municipal/communal level: * Municipality - A local-level administrative subdivision unit whose characteristics are mostly urban nature. * Arrondissement - A local-level administrative subdivision unit whose characteristics are within a higher municipal unit (i.e.: a prefecture like Casablanca or Rabat). * Rural commune - A local-level administrative subdivision unit (as the name implies) whose characteristics are based on the countryside.
