History

Colfax Township formed from Tolono Township in 1869.


Geography

Colfax is Township 18 North, Range 7 East of the Third Principal Meridian. According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 99.97%) is land and (or 0.03%) is water. Blue Mound, a glacial kame in Section 7, is the highest point in the township. A pole barn and a few trees are all that remain of the farmstead that once occupied the site.
