Oklahoma starting quarterback Trevor Knight was sidelined with a neck injury that he sustained the previous week. On November 15, Thomas led Oklahoma to a 42–30 victory on the road, defeating opposing quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Thomas went 10-for-20 passing for 133 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Thomas also ran for 103 yards on eight carries and one touchdown.
