From 1977 to 1982 he was the assistant professor of philosophy at the

. Morris then spent a number of years as a visiting lecturer at a number of universities. In 1986 he took up a position as associate professor of philosophy at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), he was made senior research fellow of BGSU's Social Philosophy & Policy Center in 1990, and from 1994 until he left in 2001 to go to the
