Kramer joined local club BV Graefrath in 1995 before being snapped up by

Borussia Mönchengladbach

On 8 June 2016, Kramer returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach, signing a five-year deal with the club. After a total of ten years and 288 appearances for the club, Kramer's contract was terminated in August 2024.
