3-3-4 academic structure imposed in 2012. The College is named after Dr Chu Ching-wen (1906–1996), a prominent industrialist and a remarkable philanthropist in Hong Kong.

The campus of King's College is located on Campus Circuit North (formerly the tennis court of
Shaw College), close to Area 39 and the Jockey Club Postgraduate Hall 2 and 3.
