History
Buseno first became an independent municipality in 1851 when it separated from the former municipality of Calanca. The

Geography
Buseno has an area, , of . Of this area, 5.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 82.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.9% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (10.3%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).[

Below Buseno there is the village section of Molina and above are the alpine settlements of San Carlo (Maiensäss) and Giova.
