The forty or so Plateau languages are a tentative group of Benue–Congo languages spoken by 15 million people on the Jos Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Nasarawa State and in adjacent areas in central Nigeria.

of Nigeria. The two dialects, Bu and Ninkada, are ethnically distinct.
Bu is spoken by about 4,000 people in the four villages of Nakere, Rago, Maiganga, and Abu. It is closely related to but separate from Ningkada (Jidda).
Ningkada is spoken by about 2,000 people in the two small hamlets of Ningkada (Jidda) and Lago.
