History

In 1988, as part of Singapore's political reforms, the Brickworks GRC was formed by merging

, Brickworks and Queenstown Constituencies. In 1991, the Alexandra ward was carved out of the GRC and the GRC fully absorbed Pasir Panjang GRC. Incumbent MP Tan moved to contest Bedok GRC. In 1997, the GRC was dissolved with the wards merged into Tanjong Pagar and West Coast GRCs. Part of Brickworks ward and the whole of Queenstown ward were merged into Tanjong Pagar GRC and the remainder of Brickworks ward alongside the Clementi and West Coast wards merged into West Coast GRC.
