The song topped the charts in France (where it became the first number-one single by an Italian singer since 1984) and Switzerland, while peaking within the top five in Austria, Belgium, Finland, West Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. It was Sabrina's first single to be released in the United Kingdom, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart in June 1988.
