The ''Sydney Morning Herald'' said the play "runs credibly and with urgency. The sour ironies in history are etched in strong acid." The play was the last directed at the ABC by Leslie Rees after thirty years on staff and the ''Herald'' called it "an honorable exit" for him.
The play was produced again in 1967 and 1970.
It was one of the major Australian radio plays of the 1960s.
