Taxonomy and Systematics

There are three recognized subspecies: ''Cyanolyca armillata ssp. armillata, Cyanolyca armillata ssp. meridana'', and ''Cyanolyca armillata ssp. quindiuna''. ''C. a. quindiuna'' is also referred to as the Quindio Jay.
