Baeza, Ecuador. Thomas described a new, now-defunct genus, ''Corvira'', giving the species the binomial of ''Corvira bidens''.

species name "''bidens''" is
Latin for "two teeth;" of the bidentate yellow bat, Thomas wrote, "lower incisors only two."
