R. D. Banerji identified Bhusawar with the Vusāvaṭa mentioned in an inscription from nearby Bayana dated to 8 January 955. The inscription records that a woman named Chittralekhā (possibly the queen consort to the Kachchhapaghata dynasty king Maṅgalarāja of
