Bai Jingting

Bai Jingting (, born October 15, 1993) is a Chinese actor, singer and entrepreneur. He is known for his roles in the series '' The First Frost'', '' Always On The Move'', '' Destined'', '' New Life Begins'', ''Reset'', '' You Are My Hero'', for the variety show ''Who's the Murderer'' and for the film '' Yesterday Once More''. In 2019, ''Forbes'' China listed Bai under "30 Under 30 Asia" category, for his contributions in the professional fields. He has his wax sculpture unveiled in Madame Tussauds Beijing, China. In February 2025, he sets record of becoming the first and only artist to achieve the 3-platforms Tencent, iQIYI and Youku popularity index, his four dramas accomplishing this parameter.

Bai is the founder of 'GoodBai' merchandise and café, and artist management 'Bai Jingting Studio'. He features regularly in ''Forbes'' China Celebrity 100 list. Since 2020, each of his dramas has been a massive hit, consistently gaining over 40 M viewerships per episode.

Early life and business

Bai was born in Huairou district, Beijing, and is of Manchu descent. His family belonged to a modest upbringing, where his father was employed as a taxi driver and his mother a homemaker. He completed his schooling at Hongluo Temple Middle School and Beijing Huairuo Hongluosi High School, where he focused on music and sports, particularly high jump and basketball. He was the high jump champion in middle school. At the early age, he started learning few musical instruments. He joined piano classes and during national level competition attained 'Grade 10' proficiency certificate in 'Non Professional Artist Assessment'. He participated in China's "Amateur Basketball Competition", and in addition learned to play guitar. He graduated from the Conservatory of Music at Capital Normal University (CNU), majoring in 'Recording Arts'. During the academic year, he interned at a Korean company, pursuing his acting career.

Business ventures

Bai pursued an independent development direction; hence not accepted offers from talent agencies. He decided to set up his own studio and secure a foothold in the entertainment industry. In 2017, he established his own agency named "Beijing Leben Film & Television Culture Media Co. Ltd", specializing in the design, production, and distribution of TV series and films.

In 2021, Bai founded his own merchandise brand 'GoodBai', and partnered with designer Shangguan Zhe to introduce a clothing line under his brand, along with a footwear line, 'ZE by Sankuanz'. On 5 January 2022, "ZheTinghao (Shanghai) Brand Management Co. Ltd", its english name is 'GoodBai', was registered. In Shanghai, he opened his first café named 'GoodBai Café', leveraging the momentum of his successful merchandise brand in the same vicinity.

In 2022, Bai's clothing brand 'Goodbai' made debut in the list of "Top 10 Fashion Brands that Appeal Most to Chinese Consumer". In 2023, the brand organised Pop-up stores in Paris and Singapore, during the fashion exchange promotional events. In September 2023, the brand collaborated with Crocs, an American footwear company, to launch an exclusive edition of the "Classic Clog" shoes. In 2024, it associated with Levi's heritage, to produce the customized collections to popularise the product through experiential marketing.

Career

2014-2020: Beginnings

In 2014, Bai attended the Beijing Film Academy to improve his acting skills. He debuted in '' Back in Time'' series, an adaptation of the novel by Jiu Yehui, after his Korean linguist's recommended to audition. In 2015, he gained recognition for his performance as "Yu Chuyuan" in ''The Whirlwind Girl'', a martial arts series based on the novel by Ming Xiaoxi.

In 2016, Bai made debut in the romantic film '' Yesterday Once More'', which exceeded ¥ 100M within three days of its release. He earned popularity through the variety show ''Who's the Murderer''. In 2017, he starred in the youth drama '' Rush to the Dead Summer'' where his portrayal of "Lu Zhiang" garnered positive reception, and in historical drama '' The Rise of Phoenixes'' which was well received.

In 2020, Bai debut as lead in the romance drama '' Irreplaceable Love''. He got his breakthrough when he played a young corporate intern in the critically acclaimed Chinese remake of South Korean series '' Misaeng'', titled '' Ordinary Glory''. His series '' Target Person'' successfully scored 8.7 points in Douban and 9.3 the Zhihu.

2021 onwards: rising popularity

In 2021, Bai starred in the sports drama ''Ping Pong'' as a table tennis player. His popularity surged when he starred as SWAT "Xing Kelei" in the military medical romance drama '' You Are My Hero'', which ranked 1st and gained over 750M views on Tencent.

In 2022, Bai starred in ''Reset'' as "Xiao Heyun", who is trapped in a time loop. It exceeded 1.8B views on Tencent Video within a week, achieved 30K popularity index, and earned him 1st rank in the "Character Index List". He starred in the historical series '' New Life Begins'' and '' Destined'', both were internationally successful, and became fastest drama on iQIYI to reach the 10,000 popularity index. In 2024, his period drama '' Always On The Move'', where he plays a railway police officer, broke prime time record of most watched drama, it achieved 4% CVB ratings, which is the highest in the CCTV-8 history. He gained recognition in variety show '' Natural High'', which won many awards.

In 2025, Bai starred in '' The First Frost'' as "Sang Yan"'','' an adaptation of the romantic novel by Zhu Yi, which during its release was ranked 6th in Netflix worldwide. It set record of achieving fastest 10K popularity index within 2 days, exceeded 1.6B views within a month on Youku and earned him 'Top Artist in the Global Market'.

Musical career

Bai sung OST for his series during the early years of his career. In December 2017, he participated in Hunan Television's New Year's Eve concert, and performed a piano cover of "Light Chaser", which originally sang by Yoyo Sham. In May 2021, he released his first solo single '' No Added Sugar: Zero'' on Happy Camp and NetEase Cloud Music, for which he wrote the lyrics. He participated in the 4th China Central Television Gala, where he sang "Military Salute".

In 2022, Bai presented a piano version of Pachelbel's Canon, the main musical motif of the ''Reset'' series, to commemorate its conclusion. In November 2023 during 'Golden Roc Night' event held at Shenzhen, he performed his songs "Moon Landing" and "Don't Go". In 2024, he was star performer during China Media Group Dragon Spring Festival Gala. In addition, he teamed up with MaSiWei, a member from Chinese hip-hop group Higher Brothers, to release the single "Why Don't You Girl" through the GoodBai×AFGK collection CD.

In 2025, Bai sang "The Invisible Man" from '' The First Frost'' OST, originally from Stefanie Sun's 2005 album '' A Perfect Day''; it ranked among 'Top 10 Songs' on streaming platforms. At the series finale, he performed a piano rendition of the song "Willful", originally composed by Mayday, a Taiwanese band. On 20 April 2025, he joined Mayday as a special guest, performing two duets with Ashin during their 25th anniversary celebration concert at Tianjin Olympic Centre. This performance achieved YouTube milestone of 10M views within a week of its release on B'in Music.

Bai is known for his philanthropic efforts, supporting various charitable causes related to education and poverty alleviation. He raised awareness for autistic children by supporting the China Children's Foundation, and Tianyun Hearing & Language Rehabilitation Training Center in Tongzhou, Beijing; donated ¥ 2M to the China Relief Foundation, providing supplies to areas affected by heavy rains in Northeast China, and contributing to relief efforts for the 2023 Jishishan earthquake in Gansu. Litigation

In December 2024, after enduring a year of cyberbullying, Bai filed a defamation lawsuit against 'Li and Fang' asserting that they maliciously distorted and fabricated facts, falsely leading to believe that he had interfered with a performance during the Spring Festival Gala, thereby constituting a violation of his reputation rights. China Central Television confirmed that the show proceeded as rehearsed and that Bai was innocent. In February 2025, the Beijing Internet Court ruled in Bai's favor, stating that the defendants failed to produce evidence to substantiate their accusations. They were ordered to publicly apologize and compensate Bai ¥ 35,000 for the harm caused.***
