History

BC Shumen was founded in 1950 and played in the lower divisions of the Bulgarian basketball system for several decades. From 1986 to 2002, the team played in the top basketball league of Bulgaria (
NBL). In the span of just four seasons at the end of the 20th century, BC Shumen (then playing as ''Ficosota Shumen'') finished second in the regular season, third in the playoffs on two occasions, and was a finalist in the 1999
