The project opened in October 2005, with the support of the Government of Azerbaijan. The automobiles branded "Aziz" have the "AzSamand" label and "Aziz" means "Azərbaycan inamla zirvələrə", that is "Azerbaijan confidently at the top". AzSamand works with
