had consolidated power to become the new leader of Afghanistan. Asadullah was appointed as the head of the National Security Committee more commonly known as KAM. He was present during an attempted assassination attempt on his uncle by the Soviet KGB. The Soviets had attempted to poison President Amin along with his guests. None of the guests died, however, as they had been drinking Coca-Cola which diluted the poison. Assadullah's condition was serious and he was sent to a hospital in Moscow. Following
