and Manita Singh. She is an International Skeet Shooter and has won multiple medals finishing best with a Gold Medal at the 2005 Asian Games. She started practicing shooting in 1998 and played her first international competition in 1999.
She is the granddaughter of
Maharaja Rao Birender Singh, the former Chief Minister of Haryana. Her uncles, Rao Ajit Singh and Rao Yaduvendra Singh, are also politicians.
Shooting career
Arti Rao started practicing shooting in 1998 and played her first competition in 1999. She has won multiple medals at Asian Games, finishing best with Gold Medal at 2005 Asian Games. She has won four medals at the Asian Games, a gold in 2005, two silver in 2003 and 2009, and a bronze in 2004. She made two Skeet Shooting World Cup Final appearances in 2001 Doha and 2012 Maribor finishing ninth rank both times. She achieved the best rank of 20 at the World Championships in 2009 Maribor.
Thomas Sunny was her national coach.
