Ann Turner is an Australian filmmaker and novelist. Her films include '' Celia'' (1989) and '' Irresistible'' (2006). Her novels include ''The Lost Swimmer'' (2015) and ''Out of the Ice'' (2016). She was born in 1969 in Adelaide, South Australia. She is graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts School of Film and Television. Turner has written and directed several feature films, including Hammers Over the Anvil (1993), Turtle Beach (1992), and Dallas Doll (1994), working with actors such as Russell Crowe, Susan Sarandon, and Rose Byrne. Her work has received multiple Australian Writers' Guild AWGIE Award nominations and has screened at major international festivals, including Berlin, New York, and Melbourne. As an author, Turner has published the psychological thrillers The Lost Swimmer (2015) and Out of the Ice (2016), both of which were nominated for literary awards. She is currently adapting The Lost Swimmer into a film, produced by Sue Maslin. Turner has also worked as a script consultant and lecturer in film. Born in Adelaide, she now resides in Melbourne.
