. He had one daughter, Barbara from his marriage to the actress Olimpia Di Nardo. From his marriage to Fiorella Fiorini, he had one son, Francesco, who is also a voice actor.

Nicotra died in Rome on 8 March 2024, one month before his 76th birthday.
