Born in Preston, Teague began his career with Macclesfield Town. He suffered a broken leg on 25 November 2006, after colliding with teammate Jonny Brain (who also broke his leg) in a game against

and was ruled out for the rest of the season. He spent loan spells with Tamworth and

, before he was released by Macclefield in the summer of 2008. He spent some time with Leigh Genesis, before moving to Lancaster City in January 2009, where he became club captain. He moved to
