Penner has been married since the start of the 2009-10 season. Penner's younger brother Alex also played for the Colorado Eagles and had been his teammate since the start of the 2009-10 CHL season. Alex also played for the Johnstown Chiefs, but did not arrive until the 2008-09 ECHL season. Andrew was a member of the Chiefs during the 2007-08 ECHL season. Alex and Andrew are not related to former NHLer
