Early life

Petros is originally from Tigray, northern Ethiopia and was born in Eritrea. He escaped with his mother and sisters to Ethiopia at the age of 2 during the Border War with Ethiopia. In January 2012, he went to Germany by himself as a refugee. He attained German citizenship in 2015.


Career

He won the bronze medal in the men's 5000 metres at the 2015 German Athletics Championships held in Nuremberg, Germany. In 2017, he won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 metres at the
