Phosthonia or
Chthonia).
Mythology
When their father Alcyoneus was slain by
Heracles, the Alcyonides threw themselves into the sea from Kanastraion, which is the peak of
Pellene. They were transformed into
halcyons (
kingfishers) by
Amphitrite.
