Adlikon is first mentioned in 1255 as ''Adilinkon''.

Adlikon has an area of . Of this area, 66% is used for agricultural purposes, while 23% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 8.6% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (2.4%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). The municipality is located south of the Thur river.
