Criminal Conviction

In May 26, 2025, Adesh Chauhan, BJP MLA from Haridwar's Ranipur constituency, and his niece Dipika Singh were sentenced to six months in jail by a special CBI court for wrongfully confining Singh’s father-in-law at Gangnahar police station in June 2009. The court found that Chauhan and his niece, in collaboration with police personnel, unlawfully detained Dheer Singh Chauhan for two days and later booked him in a false dowry harassment case.
