West (October 8, 1863June 20, 1865) was originally lieutenant colonel of the regiment. He received an honorary brevet to brigadier general. Before the war he served in the Wisconsin State Senate, after the war, he served in the Assembly and was appointed U.S. marshal for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
