Following the results, the Conservatives remained the largest party but lost their majority, leaving the council under
no overall control. Efforts by the other parties to put together a coalition administration were unsuccessful, and the Conservative group leader Stephen Atkinson was re-appointed leader of the council at the subsequent annual council meeting on 23 May 2023, leading a minority administration.
