The Nationals took Game 1 narrowly, and blew out the Astros in Game 2 to go up 2–0 in the series heading back to Washington, D.C. The Astros held the Nationals to one run in each of the next three games to take a 3–2 series lead going back to Houston. In Game 6, the Nationals blew out the Astros to force a seventh game.
