Previous season
The Fighting Irish finished the 2012–13 season 25–10, with an 11–7 record in Big East play. They then finished the 2013–14 season at 15–17, 6–12 in ACC play to finish in a three-way tie for 11th place. In their first year as ACC members, they lost in the first round of the
ACC tournament to Wake Forrest.
