The 2009–10 Welsh League Cup (officially the Loosemores League Cup) was the 18th season of Wales’s national knockout football competition for league clubs. The tournament began with a group stage from mid-August to early October 2009, featuring 18 teams divided into six groups, followed by knockout rounds that included quarter-finals, semi-finals over two legs, and a final held on 27 April 2010. The New Saints entered as the defending champions and successfully retained the title by defeating Rhyl 3–1 in the final at The Airfield, Broughton. Across 12 matches, the competition saw 29 goals scored, averaging approximately 2.4 per game. This victory cemented The New Saints’ position as one of Welsh football’s dominant cup sides.
