Valérie Valère was the pseudonym of Valérie Samama (1 November 1961 – 17 December 1981), a French writer. She published her first work, the book '' Le Pavillon des enfants fous'', in 1978 after spending four months confined to a psychiatric hospital for anorexia nervosa. The book is an autobiographical account covering her relationship with her abusive parents, experiences as a child in French society, and in particular her institutionalized years. Critics praised her style of writing and her expressive, philosophically sophisticated articulations of systemic mistreatment and misunderstanding. Scholar Richard A. Mazzara likens her work to Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, Hermann Hesse, André Gide, and Virginia Woolf. Alfred-Valère Roy (3 May 1870 – 23 June 1942) was a Canadian politician. Born in Bienville ( Lévis), Quebec, Roy was educated at the Collège de Lévis, the Séminaire de Québec, and the Université Laval. He became a physician in 1895. He was a surgeon in a hospital in Lévis. A Lieutenant Colonel in the 6e Régiment reserve, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Valère Joseph Jules Gille (born Anderlecht, 3 May 1867, died Haasdonk, 1 June 1950) was a Belgian poet. Life In 1885 Gille enrolled at the Catholic University of Leuven, and in 1887 he began writing for ''La Jeune Belgique''. In 1889 he, together with Iwan Gilkin and Albert Giraud, took over the running of the periodical. He resigned in 1891 to take up a position at the Royal Library of Belgium. A volume of his poems, ''La Cithare'' (Paris, 1897) was lauded by the Académie française. On 8 January 1921 he was appointed to the Académie royale de langue et de littérature françaises de Belgique, becoming its director 1925–1946. In 1945 he became curator of the Wiertz Museum. He died in Haasdonk on 1 June 1950. Valère Guillet
Valère Guillet (1796 – February 26, 1881) was a notary and political figure in colonial Quebec. He represented Saint-Maurice in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1830 to 1836 as a supporter of the Parti patriote. He was born in Batiscan, Lower Canada, the son of Jean-Baptiste Guillet and Marguerite Langlois. He was educated at the Séminaire de Nicolet, studied law with his brother Louis and was admitted to practice as a notary in 1825. Guillet practiced in Saint-Pierre-les-Becquets, Yamachiche and Trois-Rivières. He supported the Ninety-Two Resolutions. Guillet was coroner for Trois-Rivières district from 1836 to 1878. From 1847 to 1862, he was secretary for the Chambre des notaires for Trois-Rivières and Saint-François districts; Guillet was president from 1862 to 1868. He died at Trois-Rivières at the age of 84.
