Umi Dachlan
Umi Dachlan, born Umajah Dachlan, (13 August 1942 - 1 January 2009), was a pioneering Indonesian painter and an art lecturer. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at the Bandung Institute of Technology ITB in 1968 as the third female graduate, where she also become the first female lecturer. Her work has been described as Abstract expressionism with a figurative Lyricism. Life Umi Dachlan was born on 13 August 1942 in Cirebon as the ninth of ten children. Her father, Muchamad Dachlan, was a devout Muslim and businessman, who died when Umi was only seven years old. Her mother, Rogayah struggled to raise and educate her children in the difficult time during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies. Cirebon was the base for the Japanese power in West Jawa, and also a center of resistance. Umi-a-Liloa
ʻUmi-a-Līloa (fifteenth century) was the supreme ruler Aliʻi nui of Hawaii, Aliʻi-ʻAimoku (High chief of Hawaiʻi Island) who inherited Hawaiian religion, religious authority of the Hawaiian Islands from his father, High Chief Līloa, whose line is traced, unbroken to Hawaiian "creation". Aliʻi-ʻAimoku is the title bestowed on the ruler of a moku, district or island. His mother was Akahi. Umi Garrett
Umi Garrett (born August 15, 2000) is an American classical pianist. Early career Garrett began playing the piano at the age of four years. She began serious study of the piano under the instruction of Itoe Akimoto and Yoshie Akimoto. Currently, Garrett studies with John Perry. She has been invited to perform at the Killington Music Festival in Vermont as the youngest performer in the 26-year history of the festival. Garrett attended the Sydney International Piano Masterclass Festival in 2012. She also plays the violin and has taken ballet since she was two and a half. Career In August 2009 Garrett performed in several concerts at the Vianden Music Festival in Luxembourg, and Germany in selected solo and chamber music works. "Umi" (海 / "Ocean") is the thirteenth domestic single released by the Japanese hip-hop group Lead. The single failed to break the top twenty on Oricon for the weekly ranking, charting at #27 for two weeks. "Umi" was released as a CD+DVD combo, which was only released for a limited time. One of five possible pictures were also packaged with each copy. The B-side "Kimi wa Nanika ga Dekiru" was a cover of the same song, originally released by 99Harmony.
