The Sinceros
The Sinceros were a New wave music, new wave and power pop band from London, England, who recorded two albums for Epic Records, ''The Sound of Sunbathing (The Sinceros album), The Sound of Sunbathing'' (1979) and ''Pet Rock (album), Pet Rock'' (1981). Both albums were released worldwide and achieved moderate commercial success. Career Singer, guitarist and main songwriter Mark Kjeldsen, drummer Bobby Irwin and bassist Ron François first played together in a London R&B band called The Strutters. The Sinceros were primarily a vehicle for Kjeldsen's composing talents. He sang lead vocals on most of the band's material although François contributed three songs to their second album. Prior to signing their Epic Records recording contract, the rhythm section, Irwin and François, participated in the recording of Stiff Records' recording artist Lene Lovich's ''Stateless (Lene Lovich album), Stateless'' album. New Wave Music
New wave is a music genre that encompasses pop music, pop-oriented styles from the 1970s through the 1980s. It is considered a lighter and more melodic "broadening of Punk subculture, punk culture". It was originally used as a catch-all for the various styles of music that emerged after punk rock. Later, critical consensus favored "new wave" as an umbrella term involving many contemporary popular music styles, including synth-pop, alternative dance and post-punk. The main new wave movement coincided with late 1970s punk and continued into the early 1980s. Roadrunner (Australian Music Magazine)
''Roadrunner'' was a monthly Australian music magazine based in Adelaide, South Australia. The magazine was founded by Donald Robertson and Stuart Coupe, and initially run by a co-operative, with Robertson ending up as sole editor and publisher. There were 48 issues published between March 1978 and January 1983. All issues were made available online in 2017, and a limited hardback anthology version was published in October 2019. In 2020 Robertson started publishing a blog called ''Roadrunner'' Twice, which included some previously published articles as well as new material. Roogalator
Roogalator was a pub rock band formed in London in 1972, by the US-born guitarist Danny Adler. Earlier that year, Adler recorded demos with 10cc's Graham Gouldman at Strawberry Studios. Prior to Roogalator, Adler had also played with Smooth Loser, a band formed with Jeff Pasternak, the brother of BBC disc-jockey Emperor Rosko. Hurrah (nightclub)
Hurrah was a nightclub located at 36 West 62nd Street in New York City from 1976 until early 1981. Hurrah was the first large dance club in NYC to feature punk, new wave, no wave and Industrial music. The in-house DJs at Hurrah were Sara Salir, Bill Bahlman, Bart Dorsey and Anita Sarko. Under the management of Henry Schissler, and later Jim Fouratt, it became known as the first "rock disco" in New York, and pioneered the use of music videos in nightclubs, placing video monitors around the club, over a year before the launch of MTV. The club was owned by Arthur Weinstein (who also created The World and the after-hours clubs The Jefferson and The Continental) and his partners, who opened the club in November 1976, months before Studio 54. 20/20 was an American power pop band based in Hollywood, California. They were active from 1977 to 1983 and reunited during the mid-1990s to the late 1990s. In the mid-1970s, Steve Allen and Ron Flynt played together in Tulsa. Allen and Flynt were graduates of Nathan Hale High School, and both attended Oklahoma State University, where Flynt earned a degree in music. Allen decided to move to Los Angeles in 1977 after fellow Tulsa natives Phil Seymour and Dwight Twilley met with success. Once in Los Angeles, Allen met with Mike Gallo (singer/songwriter/keyboardist/drummer), who had already conceived of the idea and name for the band (after having spent time in the UK). Bruce Martin Woolley (born 11 November 1953) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He wrote songs with artists such as the Buggles and Grace Jones, including " Video Killed the Radio Star" and " Slave to the Rhythm", and co-founded the Radio Science Orchestra.
