The Rifles (band)
The Rifles are an English indie rock musical ensemble, band from Chingford, London. Their debut album ''No Love Lost (The Rifles album), No Love Lost'' was released on 17 July 2006 and initially reached No. 68 in the UK Albums Chart. The band currently consists of Joel Stoker (Lead singer, vocals, Rhythm guitar, guitar), Lucas Crowther (Lead guitar, guitar, Backing vocals, vocals), Rob Pyne (bass guitar), Grant Marsh (drums) and Dean Mumford (musical keyboard, keyboard). Their follow-up album, ''Great Escape (The Rifles album), Great Escape'', was released on 26 January 2009 and came in at No. 27 in the UK chart. Their third album ''Freedom Run (album), Freedom Run'' was released on 19 September 2011 reaching No. 37 in the UK. Nijmegen
Nijmegen (;; Spanish and it, Nimega. Nijmeegs: ''Nimwèège'' ) is the largest city in the Dutch province of Gelderland and tenth largest of the Netherlands as a whole, located on the Waal river close to the German border. Great Escape (The Rifles Album)
''Great Escape'' is the second studio album from The Rifles, released on 26 January 2009 after it was delayed from its initial release date of 13 October 2008. The album delay was somewhat attributed to the length of time it took to record. The Rifles used two different producers, Dave McCracken and Stan "Jan" Kybert, as well as recording the album in three different locations. The Rifles used Dave Davies' ( The Kinks) Konk Studios in Crouch End, Dan Hawkins' (The Darkness) studio Leeders Farm, and "The Pool" in Miloco Studios to record the album. The working title for the album was ''The Pavement's Diaries''. The album was released in North America on 15 September 2009 through Nettwerk Music Group. ''Soccer AM'' is a British football-based comedy/talk show, produced by Sky Sports. First broadcast in 1995, the programme currently airs on Sky Showcase, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football at 10.30am on Saturdays during the football season. Xtra Mile Recordings are a British independent record label based in London, England. The label was founded in 2003 by Charlie Caplowe and they release an eclectic mix of genres with a focus on rock and folk. History The label first signed the artists Million Dead and Reuben in 2003 and subsequently released Frank Turner's solo albums after the split of Million Dead in 2005. While signed with Xtra Mile, Frank Turner has gone on to perform at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and sell out Wembley Arena. On 8 August 2011 Xtra Mile were badly affected by the 2011 England riots, when the Sony Music warehouse that stored their records was set on fire. Since the label's inception it has continued to support and break new artists and bands. Xtra Mile has released numerous charting albums from acts including Skinny Lister and Will Varley. Kentish Town
Kentish Town is an area of northwest London, England in the London Borough of Camden, immediately north of Camden Town. Less than four miles north of central London, Kentish Town has good transport connections and is situated close to the open spaces of Hampstead Heath. Toponymy The name of Kentish Town is probably derived from ''Ken-ditch'' or ''Caen-ditch'', meaning the "bed of a waterway" and is otherwise unrelated to the English county of Kent. In researching the meaning of ''Ken-ditch'', it has also been noted that ''ken'' is the Celtic word for both "green" and "river", while ''ditch'' refers to the River Fleet, now a Subterranean rivers of London, subterranean river. Knebworth
Knebworth is a village and civil parish in the north of Hertfordshire, England, immediately south of Stevenage. The civil parish covers an area between the villages of Datchworth, Woolmer Green, Codicote, Kimpton, Whitwell, St Paul's Walden and Langley, and encompasses the village of Knebworth, the small village of Old Knebworth and Knebworth House. History There is evidence of people living in the area as far back as the 11th century as it is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 where it is referred to as Chenepeworde (the farm belonging to the 5th century Saxon Dane, Cnebba), with a recorded population of 33 households and land belonging to Eskil (of Ware), a thegn of King Edward the Confessor. There is an alternative interpretation, though, that the name could instead have meant 'village on the hill'.
