The Pasadenas were an English R&B/pop group. They had two UK top 10 albums and eight UK top 40 hit singles, including " Tribute (Right On)" (1988), "Riding on a Train" (1988) and "I'm Doing Fine Now" (1992). Career The group scored a UK number five hit, and topped the charts in the Netherlands in 1988 with their initial release, " Tribute (Right On)", which paid homage to soul musicians Diana Ross & the Supremes and Aretha Franklin. Their second single "Riding on a Train" would peak at number 13 in the UK singles chart. Both singles were taken from their debut album '' To Whom It May Concern'', released in October 1988, an album which would peak at number 3 in the United Kingdom and which would go on to sell more than one million copies. ''Yours Sincerely'' is the third album by British R&B/pop group The Pasadenas, released in 1992 by Columbia Records. The album contains re-recordings of songs by other artists that the band were fans of and had provided inspiration for them, plus one new song. Singles Four singles were released from the album that reached the UK singles chart. A cover of New York City's 1973 hit single, "I'm Doing Fine Now", reached number four in the UK Singles Chart, becoming The Pasadenas' highest-placing single on that chart. This was followed by a cover of the Bread hit " Make It with You" (No. 20), The Jackson Sisters' "I Believe in Miracles" (No. 34) and the new song "Moving in the Right Direction" (No. 49). Billy Griffin
William L. Griffin (born August 15, 1950) is an American singer and songwriter. He replaced Smokey Robinson as the lead singer of the Miracles in 1972. Biography Griffin was born and raised in West Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Garrison Junior High School and Forest Park High School. He, like his brother Donald Griffin (1955–2015), (who later replaced Marv Tarplin in the Miracles), was a guitarist, as well as a singer, and sang with a local Baltimore group called the Last Dynasty. Damon Harris, who later went on to fame as a member of the Temptations, was a high school friend and group member in another local group, the Young Tempts (later renamed as the Young Vandals). Griffin idolized Miracles lead singer Smokey Robinson, while Harris idolized Temptation Eddie Kendricks. Both of them wound up as replacements for their idols in their respective groups. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip-hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Luminate.
