The Metro Theatre
The Metro Theatre (commonly the Metro) is a music venue located on George Street, Sydney, George Street, in the city centre of Sydney, Australia. The venue was redeveloped, from two former cinemas, by property developer Leon Fink. The foyer of the Metro, designed by leading Australian stage designer Brian Thomson (scenic designer), Brian Thomson, features a lightweight plastic replica of the Art Deco crystal chandelier which once hung in Regent Theatre (Sydney), Regent Theatre which formerly stood opposite the Metro in George Street. Acts that perform at the Metro often include heavy metal music, indie-rock, and Alternative rock, alternative bands, often of international fame. It was the venue for the now-legendary Sydney concerts in 1995 by Jeff Buckley and a record seven sold out shows in a row over six days in 1996 by You Am I, among many others. Hour of Penance is a technical death metal band from Rome, Italy that was formed in 1999. History Their first demo came out in 2000 and was followed by their first album, ''Disturbance'', released under Spanish label Xtreem Music in 2003. In 2005 the second album ''Pageantry for Martyrs'' was released under the same label. In 2008 the band released under Unique Leader records their first internationally recognized success ''The Vile Conception''. Kataklysm is a Canadian death metal band. As of 2024, they have released fifteen studio albums, two EPs, and two DVDs. Hypocrisy is a Swedish death metal band formed in October 1991 in Ludvika by Peter Tägtgren. The band has released thirteen studio albums since their inception, with Tägtgren remaining the band's only continuous member. History After spending three years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1990, founder Peter Tägtgren returned to his homeland of Sweden, to form his own band. Hypocrisy's early releases were noted as being well-executed death metal, but panned for not being particularly innovative. Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Their current lineup consists of guitarists Gary Holt (musician), Gary Holt and Lee Altus, bassist Jack Gibson, drummer Tom Hunting, and lead vocalist Rob Dukes.
