The Jewish Home
The Jewish Home () was an Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox Jewish, Religious Zionism, religious Zionist and Far-right politics in Israel, far-right political party in Israel. It was originally formed by a merger of the National Religious Party, Moledet and Tkuma (political party), Tkuma in November 2008. However, Moledet broke away from the party after its top representative was placed only 17th on the new party's list for the 2009 Israeli legislative election, 2009 Knesset elections, and instead ran on a joint list with Hatikva (political party), Hatikva. Tkuma later also left to join the National Union (Israel), National Union. For the 2013 Israeli legislative election, 2013 elections, the Jewish Home and Tkuma parties ran a joint list under the leadership of the chairman of the Jewish Home, Naftali Bennett. Hagit Moshe
Hagit Moshe (; born 14 April 1971) is an Israeli politician, currently serving as a deputy mayor of Jerusalem. She served as the last chairperson of The Jewish Home party between 2021 and 2023. Political career Moshe is the chairperson of The Jewish Home, and the first woman to serve in this capacity. She currently serves as a Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, and holds the Education portfolio and the Communities and Young Families portfolio in the city. In January 2021, after the retirement of Rabbi Rafi Peretz, Moshe ran for the leadership of the Jewish Home, at the urging of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She received 472 votes, and defeated party secretary Nir Orbach. 2015 Israeli Legislative Election
Early legislative elections were held in Israel on 17 March 2015 to elect the 120 members of the List of members of the twentieth Knesset, twentieth Knesset. Disagreements within the Thirty-third government of Israel, governing coalition, particularly over the budget and a Basic Law proposal: Israel as the Nation-State of the Jewish People, "Jewish state" proposal, led to the dissolution of the government in December 2014. Naftali Bennett
Naftali Bennett (, ; born 25 March 1972) is an Israeli politician and businessman who served as the prime minister of Israel from 13 June 2021 to 30 June 2022, and as the alternate prime minister from 1 July to 8 November 2022. Bennett was the leader of the New Right party from 2018 to 2022, having previously led The Jewish Home party between 2012 and 2018. The son of immigrants from the United States, Bennett was born and raised in Haifa. Bennett served in the Sayeret Matkal and Maglan special forces units of the Israel Defense Forces, commanding many combat operations, and subsequently became a software entrepreneur. 2013 Israeli Legislative Election
Early legislative elections were held in Israel on 22 January 2013 to elect the 120 members of the nineteenth Knesset. Public debate over the Tal Law had nearly led to early elections in 2012, but they were aborted at the last moment after Kadima briefly joined the government. The elections were later called in early October 2012 after failure to agree on the budget for the 2013 fiscal year. The elections saw the Likud Yisrael Beiteinu alliance emerge as the largest faction in the Knesset, winning 31 of the 120 seats. National Union (Israel)
The National Union (, ''HaIhud HaLeumi'') was an alliance of right-wing and nationalist political parties in Israel. In its final full form, the alliance consisted of four parties: Moledet, Hatikva, Eretz Yisrael Shelanu, and Tkuma. Leading up to the 2013 Knesset elections, only Tkuma remained, and joined The Jewish Home. During its existence, it had also included Ahi, Herut – The National Movement, the Jewish National Front, and Yisrael Beiteinu. Moledet
Moledet () was a minor right-wing to far-right political party in Israel. History Moledet was established by Rehavam Ze'evi in 1988. It won two seats in the Knesset elections later that year, taken by Ze'evi and Yair Sprinzak. It joined Yitzhak Shamir's government in February 1991 and Ze'evi was appointed Minister without Portfolio. However, he resigned from the cabinet on 21 January the following year. In the 1992 elections, the party won three seats, with Yosef Ba-Gad and Shaul Gutman joining Ze'evi in the Knesset. National Union–Tkuma
The Religious Zionist Party (), known as Tkuma () until 2021 and officially known as National Union–Tkuma (, ), was a far-right, ultra-nationalist, Jewish supremacist, and religious Zionist political party in Israel. In all the elections since its founding in 1998, the party had joined other factions and competed as part of a united list. In 2023, the Religious Zionist Party and The Jewish Home agreed to merge to become National Religious Party–Religious Zionism. History Tkuma was established by Hanan Porat and Zvi Hendel in 1998.
