The Fluid
The Fluid was an American rock band from Denver which formed in 1985, disbanded in 1993, but reconvened in 2008. The group cited the Rolling Stones and MC5 as inspirations for their sound, and was the first group based outside the Pacific Northwest to sign with influential Seattle label Sub Pop. History The Fluid was originally called Madhouse. After early 1980s Denver punk band Frantix broke up, bassist Matt Bischoff, drummer Garrett Shavlik and guitarist Rick Kulwicki began playing as Madhouse. On July 5, 1985, with new band members James Clower (guitar) and John Robinson (vocals), they played their first gig at the German House (Denver Turnverein) as "The Fluid". That was the only name all five members could agree upon. In 1986 the Fluid released their first album, ''Punch N Judy'' on Rayon Records. ''Purplemetalflakemusic'' is the fourth and final album by the American band the Fluid, released in 1993. It was the band's first album for a major label. The Fluid named the album after their music publishing company. The band supported the album by touring with Love Battery. The first single was "Mister Blameshifter". Due to poor sales and the exit of their drummer, the band broke up less than a year after the album's release. Production The album was produced by Mike Bosley and the band. The Fluid spent more than four weeks and $125,000 on the recording. The band, rather infamously, declined to work with Tony Visconti. Critical reception The ''Colorado Springs Gazette-Telegraph'' stated: "For the uninitiated, the Fluid fits well with the new buzzword, 'grunge,' but the group was playing turbo-charged garage rock years before Nirvana was a gleam in anyone's bank account." Mudhoney
Mudhoney is an American rock music, rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, on January 1, 1988, following the demise of Green River (band), Green River. Its members are singer and rhythm guitarist Mark Arm, lead guitarist Steve Turner (guitarist), Steve Turner, bassist Guy Maddison and drummer Dan Peters. Original bassist Matt Lukin left the band in 1999, but rejoined the band in December 2000 for a tour that lasted through January 2001. Marymoor Park
Marymoor Park, located on the north end of Lake Sammamish in Redmond, Washington, is King County's largest, oldest, and most popular park, with more than 3 million annual visitors coming to roam its . The band's name is fake German and roughly translates to "the ladies" (the correct German form would be ''Die Damen''). Screaming Trees were an American rock band formed in Ellensburg, Washington, in 1984 by vocalist Mark Lanegan, guitarist Gary Lee Conner, bassist Van Conner, and drummer Mark Pickerel. Pickerel was replaced by Barrett Martin in 1991. Screaming Trees became known as one of the pioneers of grunge along with Melvins, Mudhoney, U-Men, Skin Yard, Soundgarden, Green River, and Malfunkshun, among others. Mark Lanegan
Mark William Lanegan (November 25, 1964 – February 22, 2022) was an American singer and songwriter. First becoming prominent as the lead singer for the early grunge band Screaming Trees, he was also known as a member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins. He released twelve solo studio albums as well as three collaboration albums with Isobel Campbell and two with Duke Garwood. He was known for his baritone voice, which was described as being "as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather" and has been compared to Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave.
