The East is rising and the West is declining () is a term in Chinese political rhetoric which refers to geopolitical shifts in which the Eastern civilization, represented by the People's Republic of China, is rising and will gradually replace the declining Western civilization represented by the United States. The concept was introduced by Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), in 2020.
