The Daughters Of Eve
Daughters of Eve were an American all-female garage rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1965. The group was formed and managed by Carl Bonafede, who was managing the Buckinghams as they were gaining national success. The Daughters of Eve is considered the first female rock band from Chicago, and the group released four singles during their existence, all produced by Bonafede, before disbanding in 1968. History In late 1965, Carl Bonafede was seeking to form a sister group to accompany the Buckinghams. After several auditions, Bonafede rounded out the original lineup of singers and guitarists Judy Johnson and Marsha Tomal, bassist Andrea Levin, and drummer Debi Pomeroy. The bandmates were influenced by the male-dominated rock music scene of the period, and they strived to be the exception to the typical band standard. The Cryan' Shames
The Cryan' Shames are an American garage rock band from Hinsdale, Illinois. Originally known as The Travelers, the band was formed by Tom Doody ("Toad"), Gerry Stone ("Stonehenge"), Dave Purple ("Grape") of The Prowlers, Denny Conroy from Possum River, and Jim Fairs from The Roosters, Jim Pilster ("J.C. Hooke", so named because he was born without a left hand and wore a hook), and Bill Hughes. The band's most successful song was their cover of The Searchers' " Sugar and Spice". The Chicago Auto Show is held annually in February at Chicago's McCormick Place convention center. It is the largest auto show in North America. Event History Samuel Miles, formerly a promoter of bicycle shows, produced the first "official" Chicago Automobile Show in 1901. The event was staged in March of that year at the third Chicago Coliseum located at 1513 S. Wabash Avenue. The 1901 show featured an indoor track for attendees to test drive the ten vehicles exhibited: five electric powered, three steam powered, and two with gasoline engines. The 1902 show saw 100 cars on display; the indoor track was discontinued after the first year to accommodate space requirements for the exhibitors. The Shadows Of Knight
The Shadows of Knight were an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, that played a version of British blues influenced by their native city. When they began recording in 1965, the band's self-description was "the Stones, Animals and the Yardbirds took the Chicago blues and gave it an English interpretation. We've taken the English version of the Blues and re-added a Chicago touch," to which rock critic Richie Unterberger commented: "The Shadows of Knight's self-description was fairly accurate."
