The Cruel Sea (band)
The Cruel Sea are an Australian indie rock band from Sydney, New South Wales, formed in late 1987. Originally an instrumental band, they became more popular when fronted by vocalist Tex Perkins (also Beasts of Bourbon). For the majority of the band's tenure, the band has featured Jim Elliott on drums, Ken Gormly on bass guitar, Dan Rumour on guitar and James Cruickshank on guitar and keyboards. Between 1990 and 2001, the band released six studio albums – three of which (1991's '' This Is Not the Way Home'', 1993's '' The Honeymoon Is Over'' and 1995's '' Three Legged Dog'') were certified platinum by ARIA. ''Three Legged Dog'' is the fourth studio album by Australian indie rock band The Cruel Sea. The album was released in April 1995 and peaked at number 1 on the ARIA Charts. The liner notes of the album lists “For Pandora”, Gormly's daughter, pictured in the liner notes. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1995, the album was nominated for four awards; winning Best Group, Engineer of the Year for Tony Cohen and Paul McKercher's work, and Producer of the Year for Cohen's work. Note: this source states that Cohen's 1995 ARIA Artisan Awards were both for the Cruel Sea's album, ''Three Legged Dog''. He shared Engineer of the Year with Paul McKercher. Lime Spiders
Lime Spiders were an Australian punk rock band which formed in 1979 with Mick Blood on lead vocals. He was later joined by Richard Lawson on drums, and David Sparks on guitar. Their debut studio album, '' The Cave Comes Alive!'' was released in June 1987 and reached the top 60 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart. Their most successful single, "Weirdo Libido", was released in January that year and reached the top 50 on the related Kent Music Report Singles Chart. In April its music video was the first ever shown on Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV music series '' rage''. The track was used on the 1988 feature film '' Young Einstein''s soundtrack. Johnny Dole & the Scabs were an early Australian punk rock group formed in 1976 by Terry Walsh ( Johnny Dole) on lead vocals, Dave Berry on bass guitar and vocals, Peter Mullany on guitar and Greg Morris on drums and vocals. They disbanded mid 1979. A compilation album, ''Scab Animal 1977'', was released in 1996. Terry Walsh died on 9 August 1987, aged 33. David Virgin
David Anthony Healy (born 14 January 1962), who performs as David Virgin, is an Irish-born Australian musician, songwriter and record producer. In the 1980s he was a member of punk industrial noise group SPK, and later formed a post-punk band, Sekret Sekret. He was active in the 1990s and 2000s touring Australia and Europe. He performed and recorded both as a solo artist and as a member of numerous bands. Grand Hotel – Broadway
The Grand Hotel was a pub located at Broadway, Railway Square, in the suburb of , Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The hotel was established in 1849 and demolished in 1983, where it was situated at 815-821 George Street, Haymarket and backed onto Bijou Lane as its rear entrance. The Grand Hotel was later replaced by a $3.6 million motel development complex which included retail shops. Some of the original structure remains at the back but from the front it is totally unrecognisable from its original look. ''Blue Heelers'' is an Australian police drama series that was produced by Southern Star Group and ran for twelve years on the Seven Network, from 1994 to 2006.
