The Cat Empire
The Cat Empire are an Australian jazz/funk band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1999. For most of the band's duration, the core members were Felix Riebl (lead vocals, percussion), Harry James Angus (trumpet, vocals), Will Hull-Brown (drums), Jamshid "Jumps" Khadiwhala (turntables, percussion), Ollie McGill (keyboards, backing vocals) and Ryan Monro (bass, backing vocals). Monro retired from the band in March 2021, while Angus, Hull-Brown and Khadiwhala all left in April 2022. They are often supplemented by The Empire Horns, a brass instrument, brass duo composed of Roscoe James Irwin, Ross Irwin (trumpet) and Kieran Conrau (trombone), among others. Felix Riebl
Felix Riebl (born 1 May 1981) is a singer, songwriter, and composer based in Melbourne. He is the co-founder, band leader and principal songwriter of the internationally acclaimed band The Cat Empire, who have made multi-platinum albums, and are the 2006 winner of the World Music Aria Award for their album ''Cities (The Cat Empire album), Cities''. Outside of his work with The Cat Empire, Riebl has composed music for the Australia Day Spectacular at Darling Harbour in 2013, the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, The Dream Festival on the Yarra River in 2009, and Australia's first ever Nuit blanche, White Night in Melbourne in 2013. Roscoe James Irwin
Roscoe James Irwin (born 21 February 1983) is a trumpet player, arranger, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Melbourne, Australia. He is most known for his work as one of the trumpet players and the musical director for Australian band, The Cat Empire, as well as his work as an arranger for studio and live projects and his work composing for film. Biography Roscoe James Irwin (also known as Ross James Irwin) was raised in the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, Australia. He attended Blackburn High School and then The Victorian College of the Arts. He began his longtime associating with The Cat Empire in 2002 after playing jazz concerts with many of the members through their high school years. Irwin is considered one of the most prolific musicians and arrangers in Australia due to his mass of work with so many well-known local and international artists. St Kilda is an inner seaside suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, southeast of the Melbourne central business district, located within the City of Port Phillip local government area. Melbourne International Comedy Festival
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) is the largest stand-alone comedy festival and the largest international comedy festival in the world. A spiegeltent (Dutch language, Dutch for "mirror tent", from ''wikt:spiegel#Dutch, spiegel''+''wikt:tent#Dutch, tent'') is a large travelling tent, constructed from wood and canvas and decorated with mirrors and stained glass, intended as an entertainment venue. The Bennetts Lane Jazz Club was an Australian live jazz performance music venue in Melbourne. The club was established by entrepreneur Michael Tortoni and located at the end of its namesake lane off Little Lonsdale Street from November 1992 to February 2017. New owners planned to reopen the club in new premises in Flinders Lane in the 2020s, but this plan has not come to fruition .
