The Bianchi Cup
The Bianchi Cup is a major action pistol tournament in the United States, held in May at the Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club in Missouri. The Bianchi Cup is the only major shooting tournament that has retained its original course of fire since its inception. Due to the diversity of stages, the tournament is widely considered one of the most difficult championships in all of the shooting sports. In 2023, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) took over the match and rebranded it the CMP Bianchi Cup. Title sponsor of the CMP Bianchi Cup is the MidwayUSA. Practical Shooting
Practical shooting, also known as dynamic shooting or action shooting, is a set of shooting sports in which the competitors try to unite the three principles of precision, power, and speed, by using a firearm of a certain minimum power factor to score as many points as possible during the shortest time (or sometimes within a set maximum time). While scoring systems vary between organizations, each measures the time in which the course is completed, with penalties for inaccurate shooting. The courses are called "stages", and are shot individually by the shooters. Usually the shooter must move and shoot from several positions, fire under or over obstacles and in other unfamiliar positions. Steel Challenge
The Steel Challenge is a speed shooting competition governed by thSteel Challenge Shooting Association(SCSA) that consists of eight standardized stages with steel targets in three sizes; small circular, large circular and rectangular targets. Competitors are scored solely by the time it takes them to complete each stage, and the match winner is the competitor with the lowest overall time. Steel Challenge has many similarities with IPSC, but has a more TV- and spectator friendly format because of simpler rules and the stages being the same from year to year. Because of this, Steel Challenge has become a place where speed records are set and broken. Robert Jennings Leatham (born January 27, 1961, in Mesa, Arizona) is a professional shooter who is a 24-time USPSA National champion and 7-time International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Champion. Biography On Leatham's twelfth birthday, he received his first gun. His family surprised him with a new Smith & Wesson Model 34 revolver on one of their trips to shoot in the desert. He continued desert shooting throughout his teenage years and became involved in other sports such as basketball. Competition shooting Leatham's first competition took place in the late 1970s at a night shoot at the Mesa Police Department range. Doug Koenig is an American sport shooter and one of the most decorated competitors in the history of precision shooting sports. At the 1990 IPSC Handgun World Shoot, Koenig became the first athlete to win a world championship using a red dot sight rather than traditional iron sights, a milestone that helped usher in a new era of optics in competitive shooting. He followed this with a silver medal in the 1993 IPSC Handgun World Shoot and a bronze in 1991. Marshall R. Teague (born April 16, 1953) is an American film and television actor known for his balance of starring roles with powerful supporting characters, allowing him to build a varied and pivotal body of work.
