The Beat Farmers
The Beat Farmers are an American rock band that formed in San Diego, California, United States, in August 1983, and enjoyed a cult following into the early 1990s before the death of drummer and sometime lead singer Country Dick Montana. Their music can be described as an amalgam of jangle pop, roots rock, hard-twang Americana, country rock, rockabilly, and swamp rock. The '' San Diego Reader'' summed up their sound as ..."like Bo Diddley, CCR, Joe South, and the Yardbirds, ham fisted into a food processor, stuffed into a shotgun shell, and blasted into a beer keg at three in the morning." The Plugz
The Plugz (also known as "Los Plugz") were a Latino punk band from Los Angeles that formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1984. They and The Zeros were among the first Latino punk bands, although several garage rock bands, such as Thee Midniters and Question Mark & the Mysterians, predated them. The Plugz melded the spirit of punk and Latino music. History The band was formed in 1977 and was a contemporary of the bands featured in the film ''The Decline of Western Civilization''. Joe Nanini
Oliver Joseph Nanini (March 26, 1955 – December 4, 2000) was an American rock drummer, most famous for being the percussionist and a founding member of New wave music, new wave group Wall of Voodoo during their heyday in the 1980s. He was known for playing with pots, pans, and other objects. This arrangement can be seen in the motion picture ''Urgh! A Music War'' in which Wall Of Voodoo performed a live version of the song "Back In Flesh" from the ''Dark Continent (album), Dark Continent'' album, and also later in the video for the hit single "Mexican Radio". Along with Stan Ridgway and Bill Noland, he left the band after their performance at the US Festival in 1983. Mojo Nixon
Neill Kirby McMillan Jr. (August 2, 1957 – February 7, 2024), known professionally as Mojo Nixon, was an American musician and actor best known for his novelty song "Elvis Is Everywhere", which was an alternative staple on MTV. His style could generally be defined as psychobilly, a musical genre which blends rockabilly with punk rock. Nino Del Pesco
Nino Del Pesco (born September 6, 1959 – August 14, 2019) was a musician known for playing in various critically acclaimed and groundbreaking bands throughout his career including the Lonesome Strangers, Snake Farm, the Knights of the Living Dead, AntiProduct, and The Black Tongued Bells. In addition to being a musician, Nino was also an award-winning screenwriter. Career Del Pesco started his career in 1978 with the San Diego avant-garde band, "The Amazing Humans" which featured members of "The Young Americans," most notably multi-instrumentalist Dan Mareen who would go on to play bass clarinet for Harry Partch before finally settling in Zurich. Skid Roper (born Richard Banke, October 19, 1954, in National City, California, United States) is an American musician, most active in the 1980s and early 1990s. He has recorded with several groups including the surf band The Evasions but is best known for his work with Mojo Nixon between 1985 and 1989. With Nixon, Roper was mainly a percussionist (playing washboard, tambourine, maracas, bongos, et cetera) and also played mandolin, banjo, harmonica and other instruments. Bernard R. "Buddy Blue" Seigal (December 30, 1957 – April 2, 2006) was an American musician, music critic and writer, who performed and often wrote under his stage name Buddy Blue. He was a founding member of The Beat Farmers, a Southern California rock band that blended country roots music and rock 'n' roll. The Yardbirds
The Yardbirds are an English rock music, rock band formed in London in 1963.
